There are now a variety of phones and accessories designed to support those who are hard of hearing. At Hear Clear Canada, we carry many of these products, including a variety of amplified telephones that you can demo in our office to try before you buy.

CaptionCall
CaptionCall phones feature a built-in screen that shows a written version of what the people on the other end of your phone are saying in real time. This allows you to follow along with the conversation you’re having both aurally and visually.
CapTel
CapTel is an alternative to CaptionCall that uses the same technology to make it easier for people with hearing loss to talk on the phone. The service is 100% free, and setup is as simple as plugging the phone into the wall.
Amplified Telephones
Captioned phones can make it very easy to follow along with a conversation. However, they aren’t a great fit for those who have vision difficulties. They also require you to stay close to your phone base during conversations to keep sight of the screen.
If you’re not interested in captioned phones for any reason, purchasing an amplified telephone could be a better fit. These increase the volume on your phone to make it easier to follow along with conversations even if you’re hard of hearing.
We carry several amplified telephones you can come into our office to try any time. This includes each of the following:
- Clarity XLC8 Cordless Amplified Phone: This cordless phone comes with a live slow talk feature that slows down real-time conversations. It also supports call blocking and comes with an answering machine.
- D714 Amplified Cordless Phone with Answering Machine: This amplified telephone and answering machine features big buttons and technology that minimises background noises while also eliminating feedback and distortion to enhance clarity.
- D704 Amplified Cordless Phone with CID Display: The D704 features easy-to-see high contract numbers, an extra-loud feature and clarity-enhancing technology for better conversations.
- iLuv Times Amplified Alarm Clock: Although not a phone, this amplified alarm clock makes it easier to wake up in the morning with the same technology. It also features a jumbo-sized screen to make it easier to see the time.
